4.2. The fuel pump/gauge of level of fuel

THE GENERAL DATA

On models with petrol engines the fuel pump together with the gauge of level of fuel are established in a fuel tank. On front-wheel cars with the diesel engine fuel from a fuel tank gets the fuel pump of a high pressure and in a tank there is no fuel pump. On all-wheel drive cars with the diesel engine in a fuel tank the fuel pump is established.

On a design the gauge of level of fuel consists of a potentiometer and the float connected with it. At reduction of quantity of fuel the float of the gauge falls and, increasing resistance of a potentiometer, lowers pressure on the index of level of the fuel, located on a combination of devices.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Switch off ignition and remove a wire of weight from the accumulator. 2. On the right side of a luggage space перемесите back a carpet covering also unscrew a cover located over the fuel pump / the gauge of level of fuel. For access to a cover, it is located ache over the fuel pump/gauge of level of fuel on all-wheel drive cars remove back sitting. 3. Disconnect an electric socket of the fuel pump/gauge of level of fuel. Keep in mind that the pipeline submitting fuel, is under pressure. Before a detachment топливопровода remove pressure in fuel system. For this purpose ослабьте a fastening collar топливопровода, then close a junction rags and, being careful, remove a fuel hose from the union. For protection of eyes against fuel hit use goggles. 4. Ослабьте a collar also remove about unions of a fixing flange submitting and returnable топливопроводы. Close the ends of pipelines suitable stoppers. 5. Using special tool VW-3217, unscrew фланцевую a nut. For unscrewing фланцевой nuts on all-wheel drive cars it is necessary to use special tool VW-3087. In the absence of the special tool unscrew фланцевую a nut, using wooden брусок and a hammer. 6. Take from an aperture of a fuel tank a fixing flange and a sealing ring. 7. From the interior of a fixing flange mark and disconnect electric sockets and fuel hoses. 8. Being careful, disconnect the gauge of level of fuel and take it from a fuel tank.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Using special tool VW-3307, release the fuel pump from a clamp, having turned it on 15 , and take the fuel pump from a tank. Fixing of the special tool is carried out in cuts of the case of the fuel pump. 2. Merge fuel from the fuel pump in the corresponding capacity.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Establish the fuel pump in a fuel tank. Before installation dip a sealing ring into fuel. 2. Turn the fuel pump clockwise and fix it in a fuel tank. 3. Fix the gauge of level of fuel in clamps of a fuel tank. 4. From an underside of a fixing flange connect electric sockets and fuel pipelines. 5. Establish a fixing flange so that the label on a flange was combined with a label on a fuel tank, fig. Combination of labels at installation of a fixing flange on a fuel tank see. 6. Screw фланцевую a nut and, using special tool VW-3217, tighten its moment of 60 Nanometers. 7. Put on the union of a fixing flange submitting and returnable fuel hoses and fix their collars. Arrows on unions specify a direction to fuel streams. A returnable fuel hose of dark blue colour. 8. Connect an electric socket to a fixing flange. 9. Establish a cover over a fixing flange and screw its screws. 10. Check up correctness and reliability of fastening of fuel and ventilating hoses to a fuel tank. 11. Establish into place a carpet covering of a luggage space. On all-wheel drive cars establish back sitting. 12. Connect a weight wire to the accumulator.
