9.1. The general information

THE GENERAL DATA

Steering wheel with four spokes

The steering consists of a steering wheel, a steering column, the mechanism of a steering and cross-section steering draughts. For convenience of operation of the car steering wheel adjustment on height on 28 mm and in a longitudinal direction on 50 mm is provided.

The steering wheel is fixed on a steering column and transfers effort on gear реечную transfer.

Steering draughts transfer force through steering tips and rotary fists to forward wheels. Simultaneously the piston pushes out oil on the other hand the working cylinder through the returnable pipeline back in a broad tank.

In the central part of a steering wheel the air inflatable pillow of safety for the driver is established. The safety air cushion from outside the driver is established as the standard equipment on all models. The safety system joins at inclusion of ignition and becomes more active the gauge of delay included in the block of management. In the presence of malfunction in system of an air cushion of safety on a combination of devices the control bulb lights up.

At performance of any works on the car equipped with an air cushion of safety, at moving and storage of a pillow of safety it is necessary to observe following precautions:

 – Not to disconnect the accumulator at the working engine;
 – Not to disconnect the accumulator plug when in car salon there are people;
 – At performance of any works on system of safety or electric welding carrying out on the car deactivate safety system;
 – If the control lamp of the alarm system of system of safety burns, it is necessary to address immediately on servicing deport;
 – To transport a safety air cushion it is necessary separately a bag upwards;
 – At transportation not to place a hand on a pillow of safety,
 – Not to throw a safety pillow;
 – Not to assort a safety pillow;
 – To exclude hit on a pillow of safety of solvents or clearing substances;
 – Not to subject a pillow of safety to temperature influence from above 80 With;
 – Not to suppose contact of a pillow of safety to an open flame;
 – Do not establish on the car a pillow of safety with defects or damages.

In the presence of the lateral pillows of safety established in backs of forward seats, it is necessary to use only covers for the forward seats, recommended by firm a Volkswagen.

The prevention

Categorically it is forbidden to make welding and рихтовочные works on details of system of a steering. At installation it is necessary to use new самоконтрящиеся nuts.

Before removal a safety pillow execute following actions:

 – Switch off ignition and remove a wire of weight from the accumulator. At removal of a wire of weight from the accumulator in car salon there should not be people;
 – Isolate a wire connected to the negative plug of the accumulator to avoid of casual connection of a wire;
 – Disconnect an one-contact electric socket for giving of pressure of a food to system of a pillow of safety;
 – Establish forward wheels for movement directly forward.
