2.7.1. Removal and installation of a gear belt
THE GENERAL DATA

The mechanism of a tension of a gear belt on the engine 2,8-I-V6

1 – a tension roller of a gear belt,
2 – the tension lever,
3 – an element of a drive of the mechanism of a tension

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove поликлиновой a belt.
2. Unscrew the tension mechanism поликлинового a belt.
3. Turn a cranked shaft of the engine in position at which the piston of the third cylinder will be in the top dead point. Thus the label In on a pulley поликлинового a belt should be combined with the index And.
4. At installation of the piston of the third cylinder in a compression step the big apertures of fixing plates on pulleys of camshafts should be directed to the top dead point to each other. Otherwise turn a cranked shaft of the engine on 1 complete revolution.
5. Fix a cranked shaft in this position. For fixing of a cranked shaft on the left side of the block of cylinders unscrew заглушку and instead of заглушки screw in special core VW 3242. A special core, having entered into a groove on cranked to a shaft, will fix it from проворачивания.
6. Unscrew 8 bolts and remove гаситель fluctuations / a pulley поликлинового a belt.
7. Using 8-millimetric шестигранный a key, slowly turn clockwise a tension roller of a gear belt that press the lever has pressed a pusher before combination of apertures in a pusher and the pusher case (see fig. the Mechanism of a tension of a gear belt the engine 2,8-I-V6). Insert a steel core in diameter of 2 mm into an aperture and a pusher and fix those a pusher. Remove шестигранник from a tension roller.
8. Unscrew bolts and remove an arm of the fan of a radiator and the bottom casing of a gear belt.
9. Remove a gear belt. If the gear belt is repeatedly established, using a marker or a paint, note a direction of rotation of a gear belt.
10. Unscrew on three turns (but do not unscrew completely) bolts of fastening of pulleys of camshafts.
11. Using a stripper, remove both pulleys of camshafts from landing cones of camshafts. At removal of pulleys the stripper should rest against bolts of fastening of pulleys of camshafts.
The prevention

Pulleys of camshafts should rotate freely, but not dangle on adjusting cones of camshafts.


12. Establish on engine pulleys a gear belt. At installation before the removed belt establish it according to the put labels.
13. Establish the special clamp VW-3391 keeping pulleys распределири натягивании of a gear belt.
14. Release a tension roller of a gear belt for what take a core in diameter of 2 mm, fixing mechanism of a tension. For maintenance of a demanded tension of a gear belt establish a key on internal шестигранник a tension roller and turn its moment of 15 Nanometers in a tension direction.
15. After a preliminary tension of a gear belt tighten bolts of fastening of pulleys of camshafts the moment of 55 Nanometers.
16. Fix натяжитель поликлинового a belt, having tightened its moment of 55 Nanometers.
17. Unscrew the fixing core keeping a cranked shaft of the engine from проворачивания, and also remove the clamp keeping pulleys of camshafts. Instead of the fixing core keeping a cranked shaft from проворачивания, screw in заглушку, having tightened its moment of 10 Nanometers.
18. Establish гаситель fluctuations on a pulley of a cranked shaft and screw bolts, having tightened their moment of 25 Nanometers.
