8.3.2. Instructions on operation of tyres
THE GENERAL DATA

At installation of the tyre with the directed road drawing (such tyres can be learnt on an arrow on боковине tyres) it is necessary to provide the necessary direction of rotation of the tyre necessarily. Thanks to it the optimum behaviour of the tyre concerning hydroplaning, couplings with road, шумности and transfers of traction effort will be provided.

Durability of tyres

Service life of tyres depends basically on following factors:

  – Pressure of air in tyres;
  – Sizes of nominal pressure of air in summer tyres are specified on a label on a cover inside лючка топливозаливной mouths;
  – Maintenance of recommended pressure of air in tyres is especially important at movement on high speeds. Therefore it is necessary to check pressure of air in tyres at least, once a month and before each distant trip;
  – Thus it is not necessary to forget to measure pressure of air and in a spare wheel;
  – On an emergency spare wheel of the reduced sizes nominal pressure of air is specified on боковине tyres;
  – In a full-size spare wheel always it is necessary to support nominal pressure for a case of a total load of the car;
  – Pressure of air in tyres should be checked always at cold tyres. At air elevated pressure in нагретых tyres it is not necessary to let the air out from the tyre. At considerable change of loading it is necessary to change accordingly pressure of air in tyres;
  – On cars with full-size caps of wheels, instead of dustproof caps there are extension pieces for ventilation improvement. At check and updating of pressure of air in tyres there is no necessity to unscrew these extension pieces;
  – Too low or too air high pressure in tyres reduces service life of tyres and worsens road performance of the car.

The prevention

At long movement with high speed in tyres with excessively low pressure very big work of lateral deformation of tyres owing to what tyres strongly heat up is made. It can lead to a separation of elements of racetracks of the tyre and even to its rupture.

Too low pressure of air in tyres conducts to the raised expense of fuel. Because of it there is an excessive loading on environment.

Style of driving

Overcoming of abrupt turns on high speeds, prompt dispersals and sharp braking – all it increases deterioration of tyres.

Balancing of wheels

Wheels of the new car are balanced. While in service the car under the influence of the various reasons balancing of wheels can be broken that it is possible to notice on deviations in normal work of a steering.

The disbalance of wheels conducts to the raised deterioration of details of a steering of tyres and car suspension brackets, therefore at disbalance occurrence it is necessary to spend balancing of wheels anew. Vibration of a steering wheel from a disbalance of wheels is shown in a certain range of speeds and vanishes at decrease or increase of speed. Besides, balancing of wheels is necessary after installation of the new tyre and after each repair of the tyre.

Wrong corners of installation of wheels

Wrong corners of installation of wheels cause not only the raised deterioration of tyres, especially unilateral deterioration, but also promote traffic safety decrease.

Indicators of deterioration of tyres

Arrangement of markers on боковине tyres (for example, letters "TWI" or the pictogramme in the form of a triangle)

In flutes of drawing of a protector of tyres there are "indicators of deterioration of tyres" in height 1,6 mm located at right angle to a direction of progress of the tyre. These indicators in quantity from six to eight (depending on firm of the manufacturer) are placed through equal distances on a tyre circle. Markers on боковине tyres (for example letters "TWI" or the pictogramme in the form of a triangle) show a site of indicators of deterioration of tyres.

The prevention

Intensive deterioration of tyres is promoted by a sports manner of driving, intensive accelerations and sharp braking.

Tyres can maintain ся before achievement of depth of a profile of 1.6 mm, that is profile flutes should have depth on all surface of the tyre not less than 1.6 mm. However with a view of safety it is recommended to make change of tyres at depth of a profile of 2 mm.

Tyres MS on snow have sufficient coupling with road at depth of a profile not less than 4 mm.

It is necessary to survey the tyre on presence of cuts and to establish their depth. If cuts reach a cord, the steel cord will be корродировать from a getting moisture.

Tyres should be replaced most later when their protectors are worn out up to deterioration indexes.

The worn out tyres do not provide, especially at movement with high speed on the wet road, necessary coupling with a road covering. Besides, at the worn out tyres there comes hydroplaning (loss of coupling with a wet road covering much faster.
