13.34. The basic malfunctions of a starter

THE GENERAL DATA

If at starter inclusion it is not audible click of the traction relay and the starter engine does not work, check up, whether pressure on the plug 50 moves. At start of the engine pressure on the plug 50 should be not less than 10 V.Esli pressure more low 10 In, check up an electric feed circuit of a starter. For check of a condition of an electric chain of a starter execute following actions.

Tighten a manual brake and establish the gear change lever in neutral position. Include ignition.

Using an additional wire section 4 мм², connect plugs 30 and 50.

If the starter engine starts to rotate, means, the electric feed circuit of a starter is faulty.

THE REASON	ELIMINATION METHOD
The starter does not work
The accumulator is discharged	Charge the accumulator.
At connection of plugs 30 and 50 starter starts to work	Restore an electric feed circuit of a starter.
Breakage or short circuit on weight of a wire of a starter	Check up a condition of wires and, if necessary, replace them.
Reduction of a current because of weak fastening or oxidation of contacts of wires	Clear contacts and reliably fix wires.
There is no pressure on the plug 50 traction relays	Breakage of an electric feed circuit of a starter which is necessary for restoring.
The starter rotates slowly and does not turn a cranked shaft of the engine
The accumulator is discharged	Charge the accumulator.
Reduction of a current because of weak fastening or oxidation of contacts of wires	Clear contacts and reliably fix wires.
Coal brushes insufficiently densely adjoin to a collector or have defects	Check up a condition and, if necessary, replace coal brushes.
Coal brushes do not contact with a collector	Replace coal brushes.
The working surface of a collector has damages	Перешлифуйте a working surface of a collector or replace an anchor.
The pressure submitted to a starter less 10 In	Check up the relay of a starter or the traction relay.
The traction relay is faulty	Replace the traction relay.
The starter works normally, but does not turn a cranked shaft of the engine
Pollution or defect приводной starter gear wheels	Clear or replace приводную a starter gear wheel.
The gear wreath of a flywheel is worn out	Replace a flywheel.
There is no unhooking of a gear wheel of a starter to a gear wreath of a flywheel
The leading gear wheel of a starter or screw cutting on a starter shaft are polluted or damaged	Clear or replace a leading gear wheel or a starter anchor.
The traction relay is faulty	Replace the traction relay.
Elasticity has decreased or the returnable spring has broken	Replace a returnable spring.
The starter continues to work after deenergizing by its ignition key
Burning of contacts of the traction relay	Immediately switch off ignition or remove a wire of weight from the accumulator.
The lock of ignition does not disconnect a starter	Immediately remove a wire of weight from the accumulator and replace the ignition lock.
